A good picture book involves a successful collaboration between text and art. What if you aren’t both author and illustrator? How do you convince a publisher that your manuscript will make for a successful collaboration with an artist?

I bet you’ve asked yourself: Should I include art notes? (You’re not alone!)

This mini course will teach techniques to make your manuscript paint pictures with your text. We’ll discuss what details to cut and what to leave in, how to respectfully use illustration notes, and how to build the muscle memory of writing in pictures (even if you don’t actually draw pictures.)

This bundle includes the following two sessions:

Monday, March 22, 7pm Eastern
Part 1: How to Think
This session will teach techniques to make your manuscript paint pictures with your text. We’ll discuss what details to cut and what to leave in, how to respectfully use illustration notes, and how to build the muscle memory of writing in pictures (even if you don’t actually draw pictures.)

Tuesday, March 23, 7pm Eastern
Part 2: What to Do
This session will include an art note checklist, including information on how to properly format manuscripts, as well as Q&A.
