Our Annual Retreat is back In-Person!

The Highlights Foundation campus has ample opportunities for walking, hiking, bird watching and gorgeous sunsets as the campus is surrounded by nature and farms.  This setting is sure to ignite your creativity and inspire you well beyond the retreat experience.

SCBWI Members:

SCBWI members and PAL members can register at a discounted rate of $670 for SCBWI members or $650 for PAL members. Check your email for the discount code.  You will be asked for the discount code in your registration under the “Participant Information” section.  If you did not receive the discount code in your inbox, please email Laura Parnum.  Please ensure that your SCBWI membership status is up to date as we will be verifying memberships during the registration period.

Lodging Information:

Currently all Highlights campus lodging is full, we have a reserved room block at Ledges Hotel, located in Hawley, PA, approximately 27 minutes from the Highlights Foundation. To reserve your room please contact Ledges Front Desk at 570-226-1337 and reference the block name: Highlights Eastern PA SCWBI

Critique Registration:

Once you have completed your retreat registration, you will receive a confirmation email with the password to register for a critique and/or a round table opportunity.  If you have already received your confirmation email and password, you may register for any add-ons by clicking here.

All questions regarding registration for faculty critiques and round table opportunities should go to Kristen Strocchia.

Arriving to Campus: The first meal on campus will be appetizers at 5:30pm and dinner at 6:00pm.  If you arrive late, we can save dinner for you.

Departure Information:

Lunch on the final day of your stay is included, but we ask that you check out of your lodging by 11am. You are welcome to leave your packed bags by the door of your room/cabin while you enjoy lunch and say your goodbyes. Housekeeping may enter your room during this period to begin cleaning and prepping for our next guests.  Thank you for your consideration.

Travel Information:

Car Service for Arrival & Departure to and from Campus:

Highlights Foundation will be offering car service (rates forthcoming – we will update on our Getting Here page) from the following locations.

• The local airport (AVP Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Airport), and
• Two bus stations in Scranton (Greyhound or FlixBus)

The schedule for the car service for arrivals/departures is as follows:

April 28th:

11:00am AVP Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Airport pick up

12:00pm Port Jervis Train pick up

12:00pm Scranton Bus Station pick up

12:30pm FlixBus Stop – Scranton pick up

April 30th:

2:00pm drop off at Port Jervis

3:30pm drop off at AVP (Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Airport)

2:00pm drop off at Scranton Bus Station

2:30pm drop off at FlixBus Stop – Scranton

On Campus Parking:

There is also free parking on site if you drive.

Shuttle Service to and from Campus during Retreat for off-campus housing:

There will be complimentary shuttle service in the morning and evening for those staying off-campus.  Times will be provided closer to the event.
