WHY THIS WORKSHOP?

If you’re interested in illustrating or writing picture books, join author/illustrator Courtney Pippin-Mathur for this one-night mini course.

Courtney will talk about turning an idea or a drawing into a story by connecting emotion, creating strong characters, building an engaging plot, finding the right voice, and discovering the right ending. She says: “Picture Book lesson number one: The basis of any really great picture book is emotion (this is also the theme). When you find that great universal emotional connection, combine it with story telling and beautiful art, you have something amazing.”

IT’S A GREAT FIT IF:

  • You are a picture book author or author/illustrator looking for a spark to start a new project.
  • You are considering writing and/or illustrating a picture book for children. The session is all about idea sparks! Come and see if writing and/or illustrating for picture books is a fit for you!
  • You’re looking for something short, sweet, and smart! This is not a full workshop, instead it is one, 75-minute session meant to engage and spark picture book ideas.

COMMITMENT REQUIRED FOR THE BEST EXPERIENCE:

This session takes place over one evening, with a live webinar starting at 7:00pm Eastern. There will be interactive components throughout the 75-minute session.

Note: If your schedule does not allow you to attend the session live, that’s OK! You’ll have access to the recording for 30 days following the live session.
