Create and deliver an impressive school visit with our faculty by your side.

School visits are a powerful way to get your book into the hands of readers. But how do you take what you’ve written or illustrated and turn it into an attention-grabbing presentation for kids? In “Crafting Successful Author Visits,” you will learn strategies for creating and delivering engaging talks, information on developing materials for teachers and students, and guidelines for developing other promotional tools.

Peter Jacobi, journalism professor and former newsman for NBC and ABC, will coach you in the fundamentals of public speaking. Peter will teach the seven essential parts of speech writing as well as tips for audience engagement.

Carmen Oliver and Jan Cheripko will advise you in the creation or revision of your presentation intended for a school audience. In addition to one-to-one feedback on your presentation, Jan and Carmen will accompany you to an on-site school visit during the workshop.

Along with the fundamentals of public speaking and material preparation for your school visit, you will receive an overview of other marketing techniques, including social and traditional media.

This workshop is not to be missed for any author or illustrator who would like to develop or refine their school presentations. School visits sell books. Join us for this hands-on workshop designed to make your school visits a success!
