Contemplative Writing Retreat

Join us at Highlights Foundation campus for a 3-night retreat of mindfulness and writing with David Hicks, PhD and Fabrice Usman, PhD. There will be delicious, locally sourced meals, with snacks and beverages throughout the day.
We will begin each day with a brief morning meditation (beginner level) and some writing guidance followed by lots of quiet time to write. One-hour individual sessions, either with David (who will edit your writing and coach you on your writing practice/goals), or with Fabrice (on breathing, meditation, healing, and/or nutrition), are available at a special rate of $100 each. (For a consultation with David, please send up to 25 double-spaced pages a week before the retreat–David’s email will be available upon registration.)

The Highlights Foundation campus has ample opportunities for walking, hiking, bird watching and gorgeous sunsets as the campus is surrounded by nature and farms. This setting is sure to ignite your creativity and inspire you well beyond the retreat experience.

You may check into your lodging any time after 3pm on March 14th. If you arrive prior to 3pm, you may enjoy the grounds and various work and gathering places around the facility as your room is being prepared. The first meal on campus will be appetizers at 5:30pm and dinner at 6:00pm. If you arrive late, we can save dinner for you.

Lunch on the final day of your stay is included, but we ask that you check out of your lodging by 11am. You are welcome to leave your packed bags by the door of your room/cabin while you enjoy lunch and say your goodbyes. Housekeeping may enter your room during this period to begin cleaning and prepping for our next guests. Thank you for your consideration.

Please note that lodging is in our beautiful Lodge, where all rooms have a private bath. There is also a kitchenette with snacks and both hot and cold beverages available. And there’s a great room for socializing and meetings.
